If you’re already an Artesands fan, you’ll no doubt know the term ‘powermesh’.
It’s our secret ingredient and the reason our swimwear looks so sensational on curvy bodies. It’s what makes our swimsuits so unique and special. As soon as you try one of our Artesands curvy swimsuits featuring our powermesh, you’ll never want to put on a regular swimsuit again!

So, what exactly is powermesh?
Powermesh, as its name describes, is a specialised power-net mesh which is made up of nylon and elastane so it’s light, comfortable and soft. But what’s so incredible about it, is that despite its relaxed feel, it has a phenomenal amount of stretch, in all directions, making it resilient but never irritating to wear.
With Artesands’ powermesh formulation, you can be sure you’ll feel as comfortable as you will supported. And by gosh your curves will look great!
How does powermesh set us apart from other brands?
The powermesh lining in our swimwear has ‘tulle like’ appearance, similar to the netting of a ballerina’s tutu. Visually, it presents as tiny hexagon-shaped holes that are roughly one millimetre in diameter. It’s this hexagonal design that gives our swimwear a four-way stretch, meaning it has no constraints in its movement. It’s exceptionally flexible and because of this, has excellent shape retention. When it’s appropriately cared for, your swimsuit will always snap back into shape after every wear. This fabric also has a beautiful naturally flowing drape because it’s soft – never stiff.
At Artesands, we use powermesh to line all our curvy one pieces, tankini tops, bikini tops, swimdresses, all in ones and swim pants. All of these garments contain our full body 360 degree powermesh. Yes, you read that right - 360 degrees! We use powermesh to internally line our swimsuits on the front, back and sides, so all bases are covered.
For our various swimwear ranges, we dye this powermesh lining to perfectly match the outer fabrication of each garment. So, unless you whip out a magnifying glass, you cannot tell that this lining is in fact a power-net highlighting your beautiful curves.
Powermesh is compressive by nature which is why it helps to shape and enhance your body. It’s important to note though, our philosophy is not to conceal or hide your lovely curves, after all, that’s what we love about you, so ‘compressive’ does not mean ‘restrictive’. We want you to feel your absolute greatest in our swimwear and believe this is best done by allowing you to feel unapologetically yourself. Therefore, our powermesh lining only enhances what’s already there, it does not restrict and alter your natural shape.
Powermesh also allows your skin to breathe. As it is a mesh/net-like fabric, moisture is able to escape from the garment, and does not get trapped in. This makes our swimsuits more comfortable and quick drying than if we used thicker fabrics, like spandex.
Traditional swimwear linings have a very low recovery rate when dry and an even worse recovery rate when wet. Sometimes they even sag and bloat, especially when wet. Powermesh will not sag or distort out of shape and it will dry quickly once out of the water.
Its ability to hold its shape is far superior to other swimwear linings and its soft touch texture makes it feel smooth against the skin.
Why do we use powermesh in our curvy swimsuits?
We use powermesh in our swimsuits to smooth the stomach, bottom, lower and upper back areas and also provide full body support. When included in our bikini tops, for example, our Delacroix and Botticelli bikini shapes, it also enhances bust support for our busty babes.
Our powermesh is designed to be comfortable enough that you feel like you can wear your swimsuit all day, even from day to night. Because of this we say that our powermesh is a ‘feel good’ powermesh. It is strong enough to shape your curves, yet flexible enough that it’s almost ‘invisible’ and barely detectable.
Our powermesh lining has many benefits, but overall it holds you in, gives you confidence and subtly smooths and enhances your curves all in the one go. And, it does all of this without you even noticing.

Understanding the + Symbol
If you already own an Artesands curve fit plus size swimsuit you will notice all of our sizes on the garment tag have a little + symbol. This plus symbol symbolises ‘plus a little bit more’. As we design all of our swimwear on an Australian size 18 model this means we have allocated for more fabric and fitting to be allocated across the body, we know as well as anyone that when you go up a size its in all different areas of the body.
