What is a Shelf Bra?

A shelf bra is basically a bra that has been built in and attached into your Curvy swimsuit. It is there to provide you with hidden support in the bust area. It is designed as an extra layer of fabric inside the swimsuit at the upper body. It has a soft elasticated edge that sits underneath your bust to offer support.
Most of our shelf bras have soft moulded cups for modesty. These moulded cups can be either sewn into the shelf bra or they can be inserted into a lining pocket so they can be removed from the shelf bra. Some styles also have underwires built into the shelf bra. You will not see the underwire on the outside of the garment, it is designed to be hidden. The shelf bra has the underwires sewn into the shelf bra. This is designed to lift and support the bust and is like wearing a supportive bra underneath your swimsuit. We offer two different options in shelf bras.
A full shelf bra: This shelf bra encircles your body. It sits fully around your body. It is attached to the front, back and sides of your swimsuit. It can be as supportive as wearing a bra under your swimsuit. A full shelf bra offers the best support in the bust area. The other option we have is
A front shelf bra: This style just has the shelf bra at the front of your swimsuit. It is typically just in the front bust area and helps lift and support the bust. It does not go all the way around your body.
Both options give you hidden support while sunbathing or swimming in your swimsuit.

This beautifully sculpted feminine wrap around style has a hidden shelf bra with internal support underwire to fit a D cup to DD cup, with removable soft foam cups and a front shelf bra. This one piece swimsuit has a faux cross over design with a side tie featuring the fashion look of the season. This swimsuit style allows all of the fit and support required for body sculpting and figure forming confidence for the curvy body. Our Hayes curve fit and plus size one piece has 360 degree powermesh lining and good moderate bottom coverage.
Seurat
Be free to enjoy the summer in our curve fit and plus size sun safe Seurat sun suit. This one piece sun safe swimsuit features internal soft moulded multifit cups with a built in front shelf bra. With adjustable full zipper closure in the front and mid sleeve length. The length of the sleeve falls just above the elbow this allows for ease of arm movement but with the most amount sun protection. Raphael
Raphael is our full support one piece style with all the bells and whistles. This curve fit and plus size one piece swimsuit has underwire support to fit a E cup to F cup. This swimsuit has an internal bra fitting, and full body 360 degree powermesh for body sculpting confidence. Raphael is our most modest shape with full coverage and a lower leg line.

If you already own an Artesands curve fit plus size swimsuit you will notice all of our sizes on the garment tag have a little + symbol. This plus symbol symbolises ‘plus a little bit more’. As we design all of our swimwear on an Australian size 18 model this means we have allocated for more fabric and fitting to be allocated across the body, we know as well as anyone that when you go up a size its in all different areas of the body.
